Stay in one of the most charming vintage cabins in the Catskills and experience authentic cabin life as you cozy up by the fire, cook meals with loved ones, or fall asleep to the rush of the creek outside. Taking inspiration from the historic Adirondack camps of the last century, every detail has been lovingly restored in this one-of-a-kind cabin, featuring custom pine beadboard walls throughout, clawfoot tub, stone fireplace and a large deck with views of the North Dome.
THE SPACE
Upon entering Camp Vista Falls, you'll be transported back in time. The cozy cabin is perched on Rose Mountain and was built in the early 1900s and we've thoughtfully restored it with that era in mind, respecting its historic bones, while adding the creature comforts one needs for a dreamy stay.
The property is 8 acres on Rose Mountain. Everything one loves about the Catskills is minutes away: skiing, hiking, waterfalls, breweries, Woodstock, Phoenicia and more.
The large living room with the original stone hearth and wood stove insert is the heart of the home--the perfect place to lounge with a book or play cards with friends by the fire. The wood paneling, vaulted ceiling and layered decor give a true lodge feel to the room. The house is stocked with board games, streaming TV, good wifi, books and more.
The dining room comfortably seats six and has everything you need for a warm meal with your crew. With the roaring creek out one set of windows, and panoramic views of Mount Sherrill out the other, this is a wonderful spot to sit any time of the day.
Want to dine outdoors? Lounge or dine on the large deck overlooking the mountains. The deck has a living area with comfortable seating for six and a fire pit as well as a dining area for six and large grill.
The bedrooms have a mix of different beds to accommodate different guests. All the beds are new, memory foam mattresses with percale bedding and warm comforters and spare blankets. The primary bedroom's windows open onto the creek and its waterfalls and the water can be heard from most of the rooms in the house. Makes for a great night of sleeping or sitting in the morning with coffee and reading.
There is a newly renovated full bath on the first floor with the original cast iron clawfoot bath/shower. And a half bath is on the very private second floor off the primary bedroom. And there is a new outdoor shower off the creek for showering in the warmer months.
The kitchen is fully stocked to make great meals. There's also window-front seating where you can plunk down and drink your coffee in the morning. Whether you'll be baking, making pancakes on a Sunday morning or preparing a holiday meal with friends or family--you should find just about everything you'll need. THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Camp Vista Falls is in a private and quiet neighborhood set far back from the main road. You will be surrounded by lush woods on two sides and a cascading creek down a third. You can take a hike on the private 8 acres or sit by the water with your morning coffee.
We are a short drive to so much of the good stuff--three ski resorts, tons of great hikes, breweries, Urban Cowboy, Phoenicia, Woodstock, fly fishing. It's all within a 15 minute drive.
We have lovely neighbors and we love them and the area and look forward to hosting respectful guests who will enjoy the beauty of Shandaken.
GETTING AROUND
The house has room for two cars.
GUEST ACCESS
You'll have access to the whole property except the locked garage and shed.
Other things to note--There is strong wifi for remote working, firewood for the wood stove and fire pit and a guidebook that will give you access to all the hidden treasures of the area.
For guests with DOGS: the property is unfenced and even well-behaved dogs should be supervised at all times. There is wildlife (black bears, coyotes, bobcats, etc) and our neighbors have a delightful cat that wanders, so if your dog is at all prey-driven, please be exceedingly cautious using a leash. Sorry, no cats allowed.
For guests with KIDS over 8 years old: there are stairs and lofted areas, use with caution. Also, there is a ravine down to the creek near the house, so children should not be unsupervised outside. Nothing crazy, just good sense will be in order! Use all at your own risk.
