Nestled in the Ozark Mountains, our cozy Forest Cabin has been recently updated to make your stay feel like home away from home. The Forest Cabin is a 960 square foot earth home built into the side of a hill with a front porch and a car port for parking. We are approximately 30 miles northwest of Branson and 30 miles southeast of Springfield and our property borders the Mark Twain National Forest. We are right down the road from the Bar K entrance to the Mark Twain, Swan Creek and only minutes down the road from the Chadwick Motorcycle Area. We are also 24 miles from The Hercules Glades Wilderness area, which is great for hiking and seeing the waterfall. We offer an outdoor firepit, a gas grill and grilling tools, cozy chairs on the porch for your morning coffee (we do provide locally roasted coffee) and hummingbird watching (May through September), a fully equipped kitchen, 2 bedrooms with ultra comfy queen beds, 1 bathroom with a shower, and a cozy living room with a big screen TV, an oversized recliner (some say 'for 2') and a couch. We have a dining area that seats 4 and an electronic dartboard that talks to you while playing. Beautiful views all around, come and enjoy a peaceful stay while still being close to many things in the Ozarks.
We are kind of 'off grid, meaning there is no internet service, but there is great cell service for hot spotting if you need to do a little work while staying at the Forest Cabin. We only have local TV channels, but feel free to stream movies from your devices, we provide cables for Androids and Iphones both. We also provide a DVD player and a few movies.
We do have chickens that roam the property, so you may hear or see them, but they are friendly. The hummingbirds will greet you on the front porch May through September, and they tend to come around more when people are outside.
We do live in a National Forest, so you may see wildlife while staying, always be aware of your surroundings if venturing outdoors. You may encounter deer, coyote, raccoons, opossum, snakes, bears, bunnies, fox, bobcats, turkey, bears, lizards or bugs. They are all a vital part of our property and we love living in nature, so please be aware you may see these things, but they will usually hide from you.
We do welcome dogs, we just ask that when outside, your dog is on leash. We do have lots of wildlife on the property. We also provide a dog bed in the cabin.
Our Forest Cabin is a Guest House on our property, but you will have complete privacy. Our residence is up the hill from the cabin, so we are available if you need us, but you will have the cabin and the property around you to yourself.
Sorry, due to insurance, we can't allow the riding of ATVs, UTVs or dirt bikes on our property.
