This cabin will sleep eight people comfortably in three bedrooms with a pullout couch. It has a complete kitchen with appliances, cookware, and dishes. There is a coffee pot, toaster, and a blender. There is a dining area with a large table that seats eight people, a large living room with a big screen, smart TV and a fireplace. The master bedroom has a balcony. The cabin is nestled in a wooded area and often times when you arrive home at night you will see deer outside your cabin! A grill is provided on the patio and firewood is provided on the front porch. There is a large recreational building on property that contains bowling alleys, pool tables, gaming rooms, a bar and snack area, and some sort of mountain climbing or rope challenge. I haven’t quite figured out what it is yet. LOL. There are restaurants on property that range from breakfast quick access to snacks and brunch to dining. The Buzzard Bar is a great place to get dinner, or lunch and watch the night entertaining guitar country music, comedy singer. The bar is very popular and serves great food! There is also family dining upstairs at the Devils Pool restaurant. Of course, all of this is nestled in a beautifully landscaped wilderness atmosphere. You can rent boats and pontoons at the marina that will travel on the river in the area and great for fishing. North of big Cedar is Branson Missouri. There is lots of entertainment, shows, exhibits and of course, shopping. Further north is Springfield, which is the home to the flagship Bass Pro Shop store of Johnny Morris. He has recently completed an amazing aquarium that begs visitation! They’re also is a museum inside Bass Pro Shop of memorabilia, including many weapons of the old west. Top of the Rock is an area that Johnny Morris has developed into a golf course with Tiger Woods. They have excavated an area that has exposed many underground caverns that seem to go on forever. You can explore these cabins on a golf cart that includes waterfalls and winding trails and even a cave with a cash bar! There are restaurants at the Top of the Rock that are considered fine dining and also a wine tasting bar. The atmosphere is absolutely exquisite! Viewing windows of the Ozarks are continual around the elevated restaurant. At Sunset a Cannon is fired and a man plays the bagpipes. In an adjacent building there is an amazing museum of Native American history, artwork, costuming, and antiques. There are a few dinosaurs, and a mastodon that should entertain the kids!
To the south of big Cedar through the windy roads of the Ozarks is a major nature area that is associated with Big Cedar. Dogwood Canyon is a nature and conservation center where there are lots of things to do outdoors such as horse back riding, wildlife, trams, private tours, bicycle, or foot trails. There is also a place for meals.
If you continue past, Dogwood Canyon a few miles you will come to Eureka Springs an art community where many “independent lifestyles” have gathered! There are lots of unique shops, unique places to eat, artists and steep hills to browse in the car to find hidden restaurants in neighborhoods. A very fun place to visit. My favorite place in Eureka Springs is called Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge. They have been rescuing large cats, mainly tigers and lions, but they also have bears and a few other animals. They were also instrumental in rescuing the big cats from the Tiger King! This is not a zoo. This is an educational and animal experience. Since we have been going there, all of the animals are out of cages and are now roaming on grass in large hilly enclosures. The people who own and work here are dedicated to these animals 24/7!! They are recognized nationally and have been on documentaries and shows like 60 Minutes. Well worth your time and visit especially with your kids.
I think you will be hard-pressed to find any extra time in your vacation if you go to Big Cedar because there is so much to do you can’t possibly cram it all into one week and still have time to relax. Enjoy!
